FAQs

Q: How do I obtain my Breast Cancer Awareness license plate?

A: You can purchase the plate online from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles or visit your local BMV branch.

Q: Where does the money go?

A: Money raised through the sale of plate helps fund screening/diagnostic and support programs for uninsured and under-insured Hoosiers.  Visit Funding History to see who’s received a grant in your area.  In addition to patient services, we also provide scholarships to Indiana high school seniors who have lost a parent to breast cancer or have a parent going through breast cancer treatment.

Q: How much does the plate cost?

A: The plate costs $40 annually in addition to the required registration fees, excise taxes, and applicable county and local taxes. IBCAT receives $25 from the sale of each plate.

Q: Who can purchase the Breast Cancer Awareness license plate?

A: Any Indiana resident who owns or leases a passenger car, motorcycle, recreational vehicle or truck weighing less than 11,000 pounds.

Q: Is an authorization form needed to purchase this license plate?

A: No, an authorization form is no longer needed.
